Criminal Alert Network

The Criminal Alert Network (CAN) is an e-mail notification system sponsored by
the
Indiana Attorney General's Office. This web based application allows Indiana
residents to
register for email notices on those offenders currently registered as
sexual offenders as well as any new offenders moving within the State of Indiana
where the offender's residence is within a reasonably specified radius of an address
registered by the user during the sign up process. Detailed description of the sign
up process can be found under the 'Sign Up Process' section. To access the sign up

Sign Up Process

To sign up for CAN please follow the steps given below:

  1. Setup Account. To setup an account one needs to provide basic details such as
full name, e-mail address, mailing address, alert notification details, etc. A snap shot
of the sign up page is given below.

  2. Verify Address. In this step you will be presented with a map with an icon representing your
mailing address. If the icon accurately represents the location of your home, you can go to
the next step by accepting the address. Otherwise you can relocate the icon on the map by
using one of the options presented on that screen. A sample image of that screen can be
    found below.

  3. Activate your account. Once you have confirmed the location your address you will receive
an e-mail. The e-mail will contain a link that will allow you to activate your account. The link
is only valid for 24 hours after which your account details will be removed from the system
and you will have to create a new account.
